Youth Group Lenten Journey

As part of our Lenten journey, we will be exploring our faith.  The only leader for our journey is Jesus.  The aim is to discover more about who God is and more about who we are.  Each week there will be a challenge. 

Week 6 – Listen to a story  

The Example of Jesus - John 19:25-27

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on the disciple took her into his home."

Even at a time of great pain, Jesus was concerned enough, to ask for the disciple to look after his mother.

Challenge

Read the above passage from your Bible and also how Mary was chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus - Luke 1.26-38                   or log onto www.biblegateway.com

Be concerned about your mother, not just for today but from now on!!

        Do the washing up!
        Don't be a pain or a teenage drama queen for a week or more! Be nice!
        Take responsibility for family things beyond your normal role (put the rubbish out etc)  
        Say thank you, give a hug, pray for your mom, or whatever feels good!

In your prayers this week remember all children who have lost their Mother, especially those orphaned through War or Aids.

Thank you Mom for all you do
