Youth Group Lenten Journey

As part of our Lenten journey, we will be exploring our faith.  The only leader for our journey is Jesus.  The aim is to discover more about who God is and more about who we are.

There will Journey sheets at the back of Church every week. Please remember to pick them up each week. They will also be on our webpage www.stmaryandstmargaret.co.uk

Week 1 – Some seeds fell on good soil…

This week - everyone takes on the challenge of growing something for the Church hopefully for the Easter Garden or soon after. The daily care of the plants is linked with daily prayer. Maybe the flowers will not be in bloom for Easter, but at least they will be showing shoots of new life by then. It will be an outward symbol of our faith that has grown out of our shared Lenten commitment.

Plant seeds/bulb at home, or plant one under the prayer tree.  Remember to care for your plant and bring it to Church on Easter Sunday. Draw a picture of a flower, or the story of the sower, to decorate our Lenten Journey board

Story that Jesus told..

A farmer went out sowing seed.  As he was scattering the seeds, some fell on the path, and the birds swooped down and ate them, so they didn’t grow at all. Some of the seeds fell where the ground was rocky, so the young shoots grew fast, but they wilted and died away as soon as the strong sun burnt down on them.  That’s because they hadn’t had room to grow a strong root system in the shallow earth, some other seeds fell in the middle of where the thorns and weeds were growing.  Weeds grow faster and stronger than wheat, and they choked the young shoots so they died away.  But other seeds fell in the right place in the good, rich earth prepared for them, so that they grew up strong and tall, and yielded a good crop.

A daily growing prayer

Lord Jesus

May your Kingdom grow in us

And your will be done

Amen
