The Youth group would like to announce that they have raised not £500 as was their target, but they have managed to raise £1000!!!! Yes Double!!! What a fantastic effort, we are all so pleased that we have managed to send a little joy into Northern Malawi. In the scale of things it is not a lot and we know world governments can do more. But for a group of 12 or so young people aged between 11 and 18 yrs it is a tremendous effort. And one that we are all proud of. Here is how the money was raised. Pancake Raises Held in the church grounds with races and prises for all ages. £138 Donation A kind and generous donation from a church member £125 World Cup Sweep Fund raiser based on the teams in the world cup. £ 17 Ice Cream Sales Post Garden Fete left over ice cream sales after a 10am service. £ 35 Wash4Dosh Charity (we come to you) car washing, on one of the hottest days of the year. £183 Family BBQ A great afternoon of food and fun for all ages. A great success. £458 Youth Group Donation The total was so close, we wanted to make it a figure we could be proud off. £ 44 A'MAISE'ING TOTAL Can I say on behalf of The Youth Group a very big thank you to all the members of the church who have supported us all the way. So many people have been so generous so many times. It is quite amazing how the parish folks have taken this challenge to heart. We know that Christopher our former Rector is out there doing his best. His presence provides a tangible link to the problems of the 3rd World, and this link has made us more all aware of the need to do something to help. Hence the tremendous figure raised. Margaret has taken the money over with her last Friday as she is visiting for the next 5 weeks. We presented a cheque to her, just before she left. The picture records that event. During this meeting the children discussed the situation with Margaret who could describe first hand the conditions in Northern Malawi. At the end of this there were a few of us thanking our lucky stars!!!
Left to right: Thomas, Daniel, Robert, Julie, Same but Tony for Robert. Margaret & Hannah Thank you to everyone and God Bless You All. |
